Remanufacturing is “the rebuilding of a product to specifications of the original manufactured product using a combination of reused, repaired and new parts”. It requires the repair or replacement of worn out or obsolete components and modules. Parts subject to degradation affecting the performance or the expected life of the whole are replaced. Remanufacturing is a form of a product recovery process that differs from other recovery processes in its completeness: a remanufactured machine should match the same customer expectation as new machines.
In the context of what we do here at Steve’s Steel it is not possible to return these subframes to original condition. Every subframe we sell has gone through the following limited process before it is made available for sale;
We first salvage complete subframe assemblies from Range Rovers that are being broken. The assemblies are stripped on arrival and an initial inspection is given to all the parts removed. Usually the only parts we keep are the subframes and knuckle assemblies.
The discarded parts are disposed of via licensed metal recyclers.
The subframe is now inspected more closely both visually and physically, with a hammer.
If we are content that the subframe is suitable for re manufacturing it is now passed to our sandblasting contractor.
The first step in this process is to bake the entire assembly at 430 degrees c to remove all paint and surface contamination.
The second part of the process is sandblasting to remove any remaining surface contaminants and rust and the subframes are re inspected at this stage.
The third part of the process is rust prevention and powder coating after which the subframe is returned to us.
After a delivery inspection the subframe is prepared for shipping.
I am proud of what we do here but I make these re manufactured parts available to you with the understanding that these subframes may not have the strength of an original new component.
Before you use these parts you must satisfy yourself that they are suitable for their intended purpose as no guarantee is supplied, implied or explicit beyond the expectation outlined in this document.
